Is this the coolest replica kit ever?
3:00pm Thursday 12th January 2012

One football fan has found a fantastic way to show his support for his team whilst working in the Middle East.
After being frowned upon at many a high class hotel and restaurant as he walked in with his working class black and white shirt, Toon mad, Newcastle fan and science teacher James Charnock decided to take matters into his own hands.
He ordered what will undoubtedly become the latest in fashionable fan wear in this part of the world. A club themed, personalised designer thobe complete with headgear, club logo and sponsors name.
“The tailor was a bit shocked at my request but he did a great job, and it is so much cooler in the hot weather.” said James who works in Qatar.
“I paid 500 riyals (80pounds) for it to be made to measure and its the best investment ever. Im going to get the away one done too, in orange.”
Local interest has been extremely encouraging as Qatar builds up in every way for the World Cup in 2022.
It seems that with a keen eye, little imagination and a sense of establishing a connection with his home town club, James may have struck upon a million pound future niche product, as clubs the world over will inevitably clamber to venture into Middle East markets with this thobe.
My order for a similar blue and white half Blackburn Rovers thobe should be ready in ten days time and should make me look ‘First class’ as the Indian tailor commented, almost on a par with that of James.
In similar vein, one wonders whether we could even see a typical shalwaar kameez, or a sari or even a hijab in the colours of your favourite football team.
I wonder how I’d go about patenting the latest in football team designer clothes? Till I do I will persist with my 9 to 5 job and writing articles for Asian Image readers - ensuring they keep well up to date with the latest sports news from home and around the world.
I wish you all a happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year!
