Champ at 69!

At the age of 69, Mohammed Patel has lost none of his winning touch.
This month he picked up the Community Badminton Division two title at the annual awards ceremony.
Mohammed of Preston was first featured on these pages over six years ago for competing in the league against players a third of his age.
This year he came out of retirement to take part in the league and ended up claiming the championship with 14 wins out of a possible 16, beating players aged in their twenties in the process.
He got a fantastic reception from over a hundred sportsmen as he was presented with his trophy. He was also being watched by members of his family.
Modest Mohammed said, “I just do it for the enjoyment of the game and meeting the different players and personalities once a week.
“If it inspires others not to give-up sport then all the better.”
